And 'Ali bin Muhammad narrated to me through this path, with this chain of transmission from Jabir bin 'Abd Allah al-Ansari, who said: I saw an Indian man with a severed hand standing at the door of our Master al-Baqir, may His glory be exalted, calling out: "O people of the House constructed by the Wise Remembrance, illuminated by the Great Light, whose ceiling is raised by the Ancient Cause, in a noble station! Console us from what Allah has provided you, and you shall find as you know; indeed, unto your Lord you are returning." Then the Master al-Baqir said: "O Jabir, answer your petitioner and grant him what his strength can bear, and be not of the extravagant." So Jabir called out: "At your service, O caller to Allah, and at your command; may the mercy of Allah be upon you and His blessings be with you."

Then he went out to him and said: "Do you know what you have understood and what you have alluded to?" He said: The Indian smiled and said:

Yes, by Allah, I desire none other than Her

So join me to a union with my Lord

Connect me to myself, for the Whole is with me

Except that I am beneath the Veil because of my sin
