For every degree there is a rank, and for every rank there is a degree, to which none ascend except the patient. And Allah, Majestic is His mention, has sketched for five of the Possessors of Resolve (Ulu al-'Azm) five of these Epiphanies, because He shone for each one of them with one of its attributes, or two, or three, or four, as He—Majestic is He as a Speaker—said: {Praise be to Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth} 1 ; meaning the seven genera of the celestial, heavenly Veils and the seven terrestrial, dust-related Gate-veils (al-Babiyya).
