That is because our Master, the Abundant Provider of Light (Baqir al-Nur), may His glory be exalted, said: "Indeed, Epiphany (al-Tajalli) is the lifting of the Veil from the sight of those to whom He manifests by His power; and at the moment of Epiphany, there are six modes:"

The first of them is: Epiphany to the thing as the thing (al-Tajalli li-l-shay' ka-l-shay'). The second: Epiphany from the thing (al-Tajalli min al-shay'). The third: Epiphany regarding the thing (al-Tajalli 'an al-shay'). The fourth: Epiphany like the thing (al-Tajalli ka-l-shay'). The fifth: Epiphany by the thing (al-Tajalli bi-l-shay'). And the sixth: Epiphany in the thing (al-Tajalli fi al-shay').

These are the quantities of Epiphany and the number of its attributes. As for the essentialities (Dhatiyyat) of Epiphany, they are five: Quantities (al-Kammiyyat), Qualities (al-Kayfiyyat), Quiddities (al-Mahiyyat), "Whyness" (al-Lamiyyat), and "Whereness" (al-Ayniyyat). Similarly, Satih the Soothsayer said: "Glad tidings to the people of the landmarks of the nobles (Ma'alim al-Ashraf) 1 for what they manifested of the manifestation of their Maker, and congratulations to them for what they acted upon regarding the clarification of their First. And woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah when the lightning almost snatched away their sight after it had shone for them; had they walked in it, they would have perceived the Totality, but they hid 2 themselves from it and were truthful to it in their bewilderment; so away with the wrongdoers."

Footnotes

1Perhaps the word is the "Landmarks of Illumination" (Ma'alim al-Ishraq), as the Master, the Commander of the Faithful said: "A light that shone from the dawn of Pre-eternity."
2To hide the thing: to disappear, to be veiled and not appear. {They hide within themselves what they do not reveal to you}.
