Mention of the Feast of al-Mubahala

And what has been reported regarding it; it is the twenty-first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah of every year. It possesses a magnificent honor, a great merit, and virtues mentioned on the authority of the Masters (al-Mawali), may their glory be exalted.

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

And my success is not but through Allah; upon Him I have relied, and to Him I turn. And His blessings be upon our master Muhammad the Prophet and his Progeny (Al). On the authority of the Abundant Provider of Light (Baqir al-Nur), from his father, from his grandfather: that the city was agitated for the Mutual Malediction (Mubahala) of the Master, the Speaker of Wisdom (al-Sayyid al-Natiq bi-l-Hikma). This became difficult for a group of the Friends (al-Awliya) and the People of the Ranks (Ahl al-Maratib), among them: Abu Dujana Sammak bin Kharshana al-Ansari. He said: So he went intending the residence of our Master, the Commander of the Faithful (Amir al-Mu’minin), may his glory be exalted, to deliberate with him regarding that. Then he was met by al-Harith bin Ishaq al-Najrani, who was the orator of the people and their most learned scholar. He clung to his cloak and said to him: "O Sammak, we shall surely challenge your companion to a mutual malediction.
