other than the commitment of the Brethren of Purity (Ikhwan al-Safa) to mutual visitation and beautiful loyalty. One of the foremost things they should be honored for, and hasten toward, are the times in which the Masters—Peace be upon them—commanded them to gather, and the days which the Masters ordered to be glorified. It is forbidden (Mahzur) for them to neglect that which they were commanded to do therein. Thus, I have made this treatise a gift to the group for when they gather on the aforementioned days, to serve as a session (Majlis) for them to read when they meet. There, they may spread what Allah has favored His allies—the people of Elevation (Ahl al-Irtifa')—with, and what He has withheld from others among the mindless rabble. Thus, the magnitude of Allah’s blessing—Exalted and Sublime—will be magnified in the eyes of those who recognize it, causing them to hasten to His command without lagging. It shall also urge those who have fallen short in knowledge to catch up with those who have hastened without affectation, as Allah the Almighty said: "Not equal are those believers who remain [at home]—other than those otherwise disabled—and the mujahideen in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred the mujahideen with their wealth and their lives over those who remain behind by a degree. And to all Allah has promised the best [reward]. But Allah has preferred the mujahideen over those who remain behind with a great reward" 1 .
