Sermon of Our Master, the Prince of the Believers

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Praise be to Allah, the Sublime, the Exalted, the First of the first, the Originator, the Innovative. The Cause of causes, the Impenetrable Unseen. The Pre-eternizer of eternity, the All-Seeing, the All-Hearing. Ancient of ages and times, the Ultimate Goal of goals, the Creator of universes. His essence (quiddity) does not occur to any mind, nor can any speech encompass His "Howness" (Kayfufiyya). The Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Great, the Most High. He manifested to His creation by His Essence as established and existent, and He manifested His Name for them as a guide unto Him, strengthened and witnessed. Thus, He is One in His manifestation and is Unique and Eternal in His hiddenness.

The manifest of His Name is a Prophet and a Gate (Bab), while His hiddenness is a Station (Maqam) and a Veil (Hijab). Victorious is he who acknowledges the manifestation of His Meaning (Ma'nawiyya), submits to Him, and worships Him; and disappointed and lost is he who denies the existence of His Reality, and thus obstructs and rejects. Sanctified is He whose will is Knowledge, whose attribute is Power, and whose primordial nature is Volition. He is far exalted above any equality to what He initiated, fashioned, and brought into being. The Ancient by His will and power; Exalted is He far above what the wrongdoers say.
