So whoever desires to be guided by the sunnah of Ibrahim and to follow Muhammad—may His Might be exalted—let him, upon returning [from prayer], begin with his sacrifice. The sacrifice is mandatory upon you, even if it be a sparrow offered as an oblation to Allah; and let one offer every part of it to one of his brothers. There is no exemption from this; rather, if one can afford nothing but that, then it holds the greatest reward and the swiftest blessing.
Seek out your brothers on this day with your righteousness, for the compensation for [one] Dirham spent therein is seven hundred Dirhams, and the immense reward is even greater. Exchange gifts with one another for the sake of your brothers, console your weak ones, and do not backbite during [this day], for that cuts short life and provision. Spend upon your families what you are able, for Allah is the One who compensates. I seek forgiveness from Allah for myself, for you, and for all the believers, through His kindness and mercy; indeed, He is the Generous, the Noble, the High, the Great.
