The Mighty and Majestic said: {And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think"} 1 .

The best of the prophets answered him with contentment and submission to the Lord of the worlds out of pure certainty, while being humble and needy: {"O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast"} 2 .

Then the Khalil bared his forearms, bound his [son's] hands and feet, and lunged with the large blade (Mudyah) 3 toward him, while he was cast down before his hands, and Allah had poured patience upon him.

Then he [the son] called out: "O my father, be patient over the affliction, and be grateful for the blessings.

Sharpen the blade and cast away confusion from you; settle/resolve (afid) 4 the tear ('abrah) 5 . Be gentle when you cast me down, and turn your face away from me when you sacrifice me.
