The Sermon of Eid al-Adha
In the Name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Allah is the Greatest (Allahu Akbar), Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no god but Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise.
Allah is the Greatest, as long as the clouds pour rain, the stars bloom, anxieties are dispelled, griefs are uncovered, and the Ever-Living, the Sustainer (al-Hayy al-Qayyum) overlooks [all].
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, as long as a noble angel glorifies [Him], a Wise Book is revealed, a forbearing Prophet is sent, a great harm is removed, a sound heart is revived, a Generous Lord forgives, and an accursed Satan is disgraced.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, as long as the rainy clouds begin to pour, the earth brings forth Radiant (al-Zahir) 1 , the branch ripens and becomes lush, the Religion shines brilliantly, and Satan retreats in loss.
