That foal grew up with him until его fame spread, and he used to ride him constantly, seeking to hunt and prey upon him."
He said: "One day, he returned from his ride, dismounted, and entered his house. It was a day of intense heat. I had entered my house and closed my door, when suddenly I heard a knocking at the door. I stood up at that very moment and hour, hastening [to open it], and there was that foal standing at my door, with his tears flowing down his cheeks. I said: 'There is no power nor might except by Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent.'
Then the foal spoke with an eloquent tongue and said: 'O so-and-so, indeed I have a right over you, for I am your neighbor, so-and-so son of al-Abras. And this is my father, so-and-so; I have come to complain to you of what he does to me, even though he knows this. I speak to him and he speaks to me, yet he does not have mercy on me regarding my state, while he is [destined to] become what I am, and he shall be upon what I am. So, make this known to him.'"
He [Dawud] said: "I hastened to his father whom he had identified for me, and I informed him of the speech and told him the news. He said to me: 'A devil (Shaitan) speaks through his tongue! By Allah, I shall surely increase his punishment because of that!'"
He said: "Only a few days passed until he [the neighbor] die the man. So they used to come, both he and his father, in that state and form to me, weeping, and then they would depart from my house."
