[34] It is narrated from the Master al-Sadiq—may His Might be exalted—that he said: "The believer (Mu’min) was only named a believer because he believed in Allah, and so Allah secured (Amana) him from metamorphosis (Maskh), and He ordained upon Himself that He would not assemble him into metamorphosed forms."
And the words of the Almighty: {And whoever disbelieves in faith, his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers} 1 . He says: Whoever disbelieves in the Oneness of Allah and His Gnosis (Ma'rifah), no good deed he performs shall benefit him, along with his opposition to what he was commanded regarding the Oneness of Allah—Mighty and Majestic. He shall be in the mold (Qalib) to which he is transferred; he has been moved from bliss and human existence (Bashariyyah) and has ended up in the temples of metamorphosed forms.
[35] And on the authority of Ali ibn Ahmad al-Barqi, from Ishaq ibn al-Husayn, from Hammad ibn 'Isa al-Aflah al-Juhani, reaching back to Yahya ibn Umm al-Tawil al-Thamali—peace be upon him—who said: I heard my master Zayn al-Abidin—may His Might be exalted—saying one day: "Indeed, the first and the second—may Allah curse them—are being punished at this time in the temples of pairs (Hayakil al-Azwaj). The first is the spiny-tailed lizard (Dabb) and the second is the gecko (Waza').
