[33] And on the authority of Hamran ibn A'yan, who said: I heard the Scholar 1 —may His Might be exalted—reciting this verse: {So today you are recompensed with the punishment of humiliation} 2 . He [Hamran] said: I asked about it, and he [the Scholar] said: "The punishment of humiliation is the recurrence (Takrir) within the metamorphosed states, from one mold (Qalib) to another mold, and from one image to another image."
And the words of the Almighty: {Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture, who believe in Jibt and Taghut and say of those who disbelieve, "These are better guided than the believers as to the way"? Those are the ones whom Allah has cursed, and he whom Allah curses—for him you will never find a helper} 3 . He says: Have you not seen a people to whom the Quran is recited and who narrate the reports (Akhbar), yet they prefer the Jibt and the Taghut. They give precedence to the first and the second, saying: "Whoever gives them precedence is the one upon the truth." But he who gives them precedence, Allah has cursed him. This curse is the metamorphosis (Masukhiyyah) and the transmigration (Naqlah) within the cycles of recurrence (Takrir) and its distorted forms, and [it is] from the punishment of his Creator; you shall never find for him a helper.
