I struck her violently, and she called out to me: "May Allah cut off your right hand! Do you not see my condition [waiting] until you are certain of me? Do I not have a right over you?" I was startled and said: "Who are you?" She replied: "I am your mother, so-and-so." I fell unconscious upon my face, and when I awoke, I hastened to Abu Ja'far—may His Might be exalted—with the news.

He said: "She spoke the truth; treat her with kindness."

And the words of the Almighty: {O you who have been given the Scripture, believe in what We have sent down, confirming what is with you, before We efface faces and turn them back on their heels or curse them as We cursed the people of the Sabbath. And the command of Allah is ever executed} ¹ .

He says: O you to whom their Lord has conveyed [the knowledge of] Oneness (Tawhid), that perhaps they might remain firm through it before their transition into the metamorphosed states (Masukhiyyat) and the distorted forms (Mushawwahat). We shall reverse them in creation, making their faces as their rears; thus the beard becomes a tail and the mouth an exit. They shall be metamorphosed into monkeys and pigs, just as the People of the Sabbath were metamorphosed. And the command of Allah was irrevocable.
