[23] And Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Husayn ibn Hamdan al-Khasibi—may God’s pleasure be upon him—narrated to me, saying: al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali al-Qummi narrated to me, saying: Abu al-Azhar narrated to me, saying: al-Husayn al-Basri narrated to me, saying: Bakr ibn al-‘Aydani narrated to me, saying: I heard ‘Ali ibn Isma‘il al-Qummi saying when he was asked about the pig—he said: Ahmad ibn Khalid al-Barqi narrated to me from his father, [who said] Muhammad ibn Sinan—peace be upon him—said: I heard al-Mufaddal ibn ‘Umar—peace be upon him—saying:

"Among his neighbors was an elderly man from the elders of Quraysh, who was among the loyalists (Mawali) of a group whose master he was. He [the elder] became acquainted with a discourse related by the people of Monotheism (Ahl al-Tawhid), and he was The man used to eavesdrop on the discourse and words, then go out to broadcast them while disassociating himself from the words and from the people who relied on al-Mufaddal's teachings, denouncing them. Consequently, that elder was metamorphosed into a pig."

Indeed, the pig is one of the twenty-four species that were metamorphosed in the land and sea, and it is forbidden for the believers; they have a detailed explanation and names in the Treatise of Ra's Bash al-Daylami.
