[18] This is supported by what Abu 'Ali ibn Hammam narrated from his father, from his men, from 'Amr ibn Shimr, from Jabir—peace be upon him—who said: I said to my Master Abu Ja'far—exalted is His might: "My Master, I have a neighbor who harasses me, and I would love to see him in a [revealed] form while he is [spiritually] dead." So he took me by the hand and led me out of the city, and there was a dog. He said to me: "This is your companion." I said: "Has my companion who used to harass me become a dog?" He said: "Observe him so that you have no doubt concerning him." Then he returned him [to the appearance of] a dog and said: "This is the wrath of God upon him; indeed, he shall return in the second [cycle] as a pied raven (Ghurab Abqa'). If you see him in the Sanctuary (al-Haram), then kill him."
As for the words of the Almighty—Mighty and Majestic: {And [for] their saying, "Our hearts are wrapped" (Ghulf); rather, Allah has sealed them because of their disbelief} 1 .
Meaning: He sealed their hearts with the nature of metamorphosis.
