Every individual in humanity works according to the manner of the metamorphosis (al-Masukhiyya) he is within—in his eating, drinking, sleeping, movements, and all his actions. The discourse on this would be lengthy, as these traits exist within them even in humanity—in their forms, their statures, their gaits, and their lapses. To avoid lengthening the discourse, what we have mentioned is a clarification for him who has a heart.

[15] This is supported by what 'Ali ibn Muhammad al-Barqi narrated with the chain of transmission on the authority of al-Mufaddal ibn 'Umar—peace be upon him—that he said: al-Sadiq—exalted is His might—said: "O Mufaddal, if a human has been transferred from a state of metamorphosis, it is not hidden from the people of vision and insight. His condition is such that if you see him and persist in observing and reflecting upon him—his actions, his movements, his eating, and his drinking—the truth will be distinguished for you from the falsehood. Do you not see the people and the variation of their forms? One man loves to eat while lying down, another while walking, another while sitting with his legs extended, and another upon his side, and another loves to eat while standing.
