Some enjoy amassing and guarding wealth, while others enjoy spending and squandering it. Among people are those who enjoy raising beasts, birds, sheep, goats, gazelles, and other animals such as horses, cattle, donkeys, and the like. And among them who lean toward dogs, raising monkeys, and playing with them; the types of these are many and their explanation would be lengthy.
Likewise, they differ in their crafts: among people are those who love seeking knowledge, and those who do not. There is nothing present in any person in the world while they are in human form except due to the nature of what they were transferred from into humanity. In them remain remnants of that metamorphosis (al-Masukhiyya), including the transfer of its movements, temperament, attributes, actions, eating, drinking, and sleeping. We have previously stated in this book of ours that when an individual is in humanity and has exhausted their allotted molds within it, there is placed in them, in the final mold, something of the signs, movements, and temperament of metamorphosis so that they may become accustomed to it. Thus, when they are transferred to it, they do not feel estranged.
Similarly, when one is in the state of metamorphosis and is to be transferred to humanity, there is in them something of the signs of humanity so that they do not feel estranged from it—as a kindness from their Creator, Mighty and Majestic, and a grace, mercy, and compassion toward them.
