Stories and Narrations Regarding Metamorphosis:

Among people, there are traces and signs found in their eating, drinking, sleeping, dressing, and movements. You see one who sits upright, another who eats while standing, and another while reclining. You see their ways of drinking vary: one does not drink water except by sipping, another sleeps on his face, another only sleeps on his side, another spends most of his time asleep, while another sleeps very little. Among people is one who, when he wishes to stand, raises his backside first and extends his head; another leaps to his feet; and another cannot stand unless he places his hand upon the ground. Among people is one who cannot remain silent and prattles on, another who is often silent and speaks little, and another whose silence and speech are balanced.

Among people are those who enjoy the company of women and being near them, and those who cannot bear to sit with them. Some enjoy gatherings and socializing with them. Among them is one who constantly thinks of the well-being of his child, yearning for them and unable to be patient without them, while another does not think of his child, his family, or his relatives at all. Some enjoy eating meat, while others lean toward vegetables. Some are inclined toward the "Drink of the Servant of Light" ('Abd al-Nur), joy, and listening [to music], while others are not.
