The parts of the transcribed [permitted] animal that are prohibited to eat are: "The blood, the jugular vein (al-Madhabah), the eyeball, the spinal marrow, the glands, the spleen, the penis, the testicles, the vulva, and the anus." These parts were prohibited only because, during their human state, they were not free from the "human-ness" (al-Nasat) mingled with the dark bodies. When the dark body vanished and the spirit was transcribed into that temple (Haykal) whose eating is permitted, the locations of those impurities from the metamorphosed spirit remained within those dark impurities of its outward body, which had been transferred into those praised and beneficial elements 1 .

For when the spirit departs from the body of a believer and is transferred to another, that temple returns to the world from which it was brought forth; it then generates from beneficial elements. As for the parts permitted for use from the temples whose eating is prohibited, they are: "The skin, the hair, the wool, the fur, the feathers, the horn, the cloven hoof, the canine tooth, the bone, and the [solid] hoof." The prohibited ones are the temples of the metamorphosed beings, their spirits, and their bodies; yet the use of these [ten] parts is permitted because they were, during their human state, not devoid of [some] recognition of a believer, or the fulfillment of a need, or returning a greeting to him, or smiling in his face, or observing him in a state of ease—thereby resulting in a benefit or utility.

Footnotes

1In another manuscript, an addition: "...so they were prohibited lest the believer eat them, and those dark impurities mingle with his pure body."
