If he responds and knows his Creator, His Name, and His Gate (Bab), he is transferred to the World of Purity ('Alam al-Safa’); for he has then declared the Oneness of God and is no longer required to seek rescission or have sins purged from him. Thus, he becomes among the ranks of those who have attained (al-Lahiqin). However, if he does not respond in that mold, he is repeated in humanity to be punished. This is supported by the words of the Almighty: {They destroyed their houses by their [own] hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O people of vision} 1 .

All that we have mentioned regarding that which is punished is not devoid of a firmly entrenched, tormented soul within it, remaining there because of what it earned. For the Lord—Exalted and Sublime—is too Great to create a creation and punish them without them deserving the punishment.
