I called him again, and he answered me the second time: 'I am so-and-so, son of so-and-so; what do you want from me? Enough for me is the disgrace I am in! What is your need from me? Do you have any stratagem to bring me out of this

torment?' I replied: 'And what stratagem could I possibly have?' Then I recited: {And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands} ¹ , followed by: {And the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"} ² . When I had finished my speech, I departed from him while cursing him and disassociating myself (Atabarra'u) from him."

We have fully addressed the discourse on reincarnation/transmigration (al-Tanasukh) and the verses in the Quran that testify to it in our major work titled "The Book of the Beginning and the Return" (Kitab al-Bad' wal-I'adah), for which we have produced this present book as an abridgment. May Allah grant us and all the believers success in everything that brings us favor with Him. We ask Him to unite our hearts and the hearts of our believing brothers, and that we may draw near to Him through His success, guidance, signs, and direction. He is sufficient for us, and the best Disposer of affairs, the best Master, and the best Helper. May Allah bless our master Muhammad and his pure Progeny. There is no power nor might except with Allah, the High, the Great.
