[57] On the authority of al-Qasim ibn al-Husayn al-Alawi, from Muhammad ibn Mihran, from Muhammad ibn Sadaqah, from Muhammad ibn Sinan—peace be upon him—from the Scholar—may His Might be exalted—that he said: "If you see a man without an upright stature, [his body] tending toward the ground, being crooked of body, appearing lowly on the earth in every respect, having a crooked path; he loves to settle near water, and his eating is only with water—and for the most part, all of his eating is in the water and from the water—then that human being is inevitably transferred (Manqul) from the fish to the cranes (al-Karani), or [he is] transferred within the crabs (al-Saratan)."
The words of the Almighty: {And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that upon which we found our fathers." Even if Satan was inviting them to the punishment of the Blaze?} 1 .
He says: When they are invited to the Oneness of Allah the Almighty, they say: "We follow none but our ancestors among the fathers and grandfathers who used to worship the idols (al-Tawaghit) who led the nations astray and taught them disbelief and denial." [This is] because Satan invites them to what ensues for them of the Transition (al-Naqlah) into metamorphosis (al-Masukhiyyah), into the tormented structures (al-Hayakil al-Mu'adhabah)—and that is the Blaze (al-Sa'ir).
