(Ahl al-Maratib), who excel over one another in their degrees. Among them are: "The Gates (al-Abwab), the Orphans (al-Aytam), the Deputies (al-Nuqaba), the Nobles (al-Nujaba), the Chosen (al-Mukhtassun), the Sincere (al-Mukhlisun), and the Tested (al-Mumtahanun)." These are the ones who did not inhabit dark bodies, nor are they subject to dark density; they are luminous. They appear with the manifestation of the Sacred Law (al-Shari'a), appearing through His victory, and He manifests them as His supporters. Thus, they belong to the highest stratum, and they are the people of the first call.
As for the Companions of the Right, they are those who responded in the second call. They are the Human Lesser World (al-'Alam al-Saghir al-Bashari), whose number is one hundred and nineteen thousand. Among them are: "The Near Ones (al-Muqarrabun), the Cherubim (al-Karubiyyun), the Spirituals (al-Ruhaniyyun), the Sanctified (al-Muqaddasun), the Travelers (al-Sa’ihun), the Listeners (al-Mustami'un), and the Followers (al-Lahiqun)." These are the ones for whom the caller supplicates, saying: "O God, bless the one hundred thousand prophets, and the twenty-four thousand prophets."
And they affirm that they are the sent prophets—though not in the sense that people [commonly] assume. Rather, these two worlds are: the Luminous Great World (al-'Alam al-Kabir al-Nurani) of five thousand prophets, and the Human Lesser World (al-'Alam al-Saghir al-Bashari) of one hundred and nineteen thousand prophets 1 .
