Whenever a thing is coupled with its opposite, it becomes forsaken, weakened, and distracted from its own essence by the essence of another.

O soul: How great are your sorrows! For you speak and find no listener; you manifest your grievance and find none to show mercy. If only I knew the condition of one who has become a stranger to their homeland, distant from their mine [of origin], far from their root and their true description! Their passion has ruined them, and they are on the verge of reaping the fruits of their lapse and error—carried upon the vessel of vanity and desire, coupled with the conceit of diversion and pleasure, heedless in their delight, yet standing on the brink of their own destruction. Let the rider in the depths of the sea, within decorated vessels, know that when these vessels disintegrate and dissolve, they have accompanied only that which has forsaken them.

And he has surrendered to the one who deceived and cheated him. Oh, what a profound grief it is for one who is deluded by a treacherous beloved and a forsaking companion!
