O soul: If you acknowledge the truth of this meaning, then the veil has been lifted from your sight. But if you deny it, then employ the remedies that remove blindness from the eyes, and adopt the ethics that lead out of darkness into the lights.
O soul: Contemplate your essence and take heed of it. Know that the essence of the soul is a sublime and noble substance; this is due to its affinity with all worlds and its presence in every place. At times, it is attributed to the World of Nature, where it becomes "human," witnessing the objects of sense and encountering food, drink, and all the meanings of nature. At other times, it is attributed to its own Particular World, where it becomes a sensing and perceiving soul—utilizing, moving, and introspective; possessing [the powers of] inquiry, contemplation, testing, and will. These meanings are the true meanings of the soul, and they are the life diffused throughout all that the kingdom of the soul contains.
