INTRODUCTION
In the Name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A treatise attributed to Hermes the Wise regarding the reproach of the soul and restraining it from inferior matters, and urging it to seek that which suits and resembles it of celestial matters; averting it from that which harms and ruins it, and exhorting it toward that in which lies its uprightness and righteousness.
He clarified the evidences and proofs for what he explained thereof, and did not limit himself to merely probing 1 the meanings, but rather delved deeply into unveiling them for everyone, without the intent of mere interpretation or verbal embellishment, but rather by that which stands firm in intellects and thoughts, and is accepted by every possessor of sound insight.
