But if your knowledge is of the objects of intellect and you have preferred them over all else, then toward them you shall head, unto them you shall transition, and in them you shall find joy.
O soul: This is the abode of the objects of sense, and the abode of the objects of intellect is present before you. You have experienced and encountered them both; so choose whichever of the two you desire, neither repelled nor barred, and proceed toward the one most favored by you. If you choose to dwell in the abode of the senses, then remain upon that which you have already experienced and known. But if you desire to journey to the abode of the Intellect, it is incumbent upon you, before separation [from the body], to envision the meaning of your path and your treading of it in its proper order, station by station, until you reach the Station of Stability.
If you, O soul, are rememberful of this path, then beware lest forgetfulness and fear intervene between you and it at the time of separation, causing you to go astray and fall into delusion.
And if you, O soul, have forgotten this path, then remember it. Seek aid in remembering it through the description provided by those who have trodden and experienced it—for they are the Imams of Guidance, the Lamps in the Darkness, and the Guides to the Supreme Path until the End.
Know, O soul: Everything that ascends and transitions toward the Heights must be light, clear, and pure, so that its passage to its goal may be swifter.
