As long as the sight possesses that light, it possesses and perceives its objects. If it loses the light and darkness returns, it returns to the loss of all its sensations.
Had the light lasted for it forever, and had darkness been absent, its perception would have lasted forever as long as the light remained.
Since it has become clear to you, O soul, that light comes from the direction of the Intellect and darkness comes from the direction of the body, you should not grieve over parting from the body, given the severity of its harm to you, its betrayal of you, and its hindering you from perceiving your eternal, true knowledge. Rather, O soul, you ought to grieve over being parted from the luminous realm of the Intellect, due to the abundance of its benefits and its assistance to you in attaining your goals.
Therefore, turn away from nature, O soul, as one who is ascetic, disdainful, fearful, and cautious of its consequences. Flee toward the realm of the Intellect, which is your Origin, your Fountainhead, and the source of your nobility and glory; thereby you shall live the Eternal Life and attain perfect and complete happiness.
