Therefore, it is incumbent upon you, O soul, to believe in the longing for natural death and to be content with it, and to beware of failing [to face] it. For through the fear of it comes destruction, and through the longing for it comes salvation. Do you not know, O soul, that through death you transition from constriction to expansiveness, from poverty to wealth, from sorrow to joy, from fear to security, from exhaustion to rest, from pain to pleasure, from sickness to health, and from darkness to light?

So, do not grieve, O soul, that you are stripped of the robes of evil and misery, only to don the robes of goodness and eternity—while you are certain of that reality and have encountered and witnessed it through your own unique and solitary essence.

O soul: You demand brothers and companions in the world of generation and corruption, yet you have known that this is of the genus of the impossible. Such things are only found in the world of spiritual beings, due to the singularity, purity, and refinement of their essences. If you desire that, then proceed to that place to attain your requests. Do not seek in the world of generation that which is not within it; for its inhabitants are captives and subjects. What brotherhood can a captive offer? And what covenant can a subject keep? Be certain of this, act upon it, and believe in it.
