He said: "Do you not remember that on such a day of such a month, you were passing through one of the streets of Medina when your menses came? You felt shy before the people and sat in the middle of the road. You found a piece of wool that had been cast away, so you took it and used it as a support in that place because of the blood." She said: "That did happen, O my master."

He said: "Truly, a man had wiped his member with that wool after an act of intercourse, and the semen remained attached to the wool. When you used it, the place was warm, so the essence dissolved and mixed with the warm blood, and from it came this pregnancy. It is a male, white of complexion, fair-haired, and blue-eyed; and this very night you shall give birth to him."

The man took his wife’s hand and left. When night fell, her labor pains began, and she gave birth to a male child exactly as our Master, Mighty is His Might, had described.

(154) Similar to this is what my master and sheikh narrated to me by his chain of transmission from his sheikhs, may God be pleased with them, that Abd Allah ibn Saba, peace be upon him, and his brothers came to our Master Amir Almuminin, Mighty is His Might, with their sister. They said: "O Amir Almuminin, this sister of ours is a widow with no husband. We asked her to perform a task today, and she stood up groaning and sighing from the heaviness in her belly. We became suspicious of her condition and brought a midwife to her. When the midwife examined her belly to find the source of the pain, she stated that the woman was pregnant. We have surrendered her to you so that you may judge her with your judgment, which is the judgment of God and His Messenger."

Amir Almuminin, Mighty is His Might, said to them: "The midwife spoke the truth to you in saying she is pregnant, but she did not know what the pregnancy is or its cause." Then he said to the woman: "Come forward," and she did. Then he said: "Turn back," and she did. He said: "This sister of yours bathed in cold water containing leeches, and a leech entered the womb. From it, there occurred what you see in the form of a pregnancy. But sit, so that you may see it with your own eyes."
