(149) Trustworthy narrators have transmitted from our Master Amir Almuminin, Mighty is His Might, that he said in a famous sermon heard by all who were present and known to the people of intellect and insight:

"I possess the knowledge of the Hour. To me the Messengers pointed, by my Oneness the Books spoke, and to my gnosis the religions called. I raised the canopy of the heaven; I leveled the surface of the earth, firmly fixed its mountains, caused its rivers to flow, brought forth its trees, and produced its fruits. I brought the darkness of the night; I caused its sun to rise and illuminated its moon. I created its gardens. I created the creation and spread the sustenance. I am the Lord of lords and the Master of necks, the Exalted, the All-Knower. I am a horn of iron; I am new in every day. I am the Originator and the Restorer. I am the one who caused Jesus to enter the womb of his mother. I sent the Messengers and gave prophecy to the Prophets. I am the Namer of names and their Originator. I manifested within Adam throughout his cycle and age and was named Abel. I manifested within Noah throughout his cycle and age and was named Seth. I manifested within Jacob throughout his cycle and age and was named Joseph. I manifested within Moses throughout his cycle and age and was named Joshua. I manifested within Solomon throughout his cycle and age and was named Asaph. I manifested within Jesus throughout his cycle and age and was named Simon. I manifested within Muhammad throughout his cycle and age and was named Ali. I am the Witness who is never absent; I am the Living, the Eternal. I am the Goal of the seekers and the Security of the fearful."
