(137) Through another path, narrated by Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ali al-Shalmaghani in the book Establishment of the Imamate, from the Lord Messenger, Mighty is His Might, that he said: God, Mighty and Majestic, says: "Let him who debases My believing servant be warned of war from Me, and let him who honors My believing servant be secure from My wrath. If there were none on earth of My creation but a single believer with a Just Imam, I would have no need for all whom I created through their worship; and My heaven and earth would be sustained by the two of them, and I would create for them a company from their faith so they would need none other."

(138) Al-Adawi narrated from Hammad ibn Isa, who said: Our Master al-Sadiq, Mighty is His Might, said: "God, Mighty and Majestic, says: 'Truly, the believing servant draws near to Me through supererogatory acts until I love him. When I love him, I become his tongue with which he speaks, his eye with which he sees, his hearing with which he hears, and his hand with which he strikes. I have never hesitated in anything I do as I hesitate in seizing the soul of My believing servant; he hates death and I hate to grieve him. And for whomever I hate to grieve, it is incumbent upon My servants to seek his pleasure. No one is more neglectful of a right than a brother is of his brother’s right; were it not for that, the Truth would have become manifest to them.'"

(139) From Muhammad ibn Sinan, peace be upon him, from the Lord al-Sadiq, Mighty is His Might, that he said: "God surely afflicts His believing servant with trials just as a bird feeds its chick, so that He may compensate him with well-being and joy in the Abode of Permanence." And that is His saying, Mighty and Majestic: {That is the Abode of the Hereafter; We assign it to those who do not desire exaltedness in the land nor corruption, and the [best] outcome is for the righteous}.
