(88) From Abd Allah ibn al-Ula from Idris from Hisham from al-Mufaddal, peace be upon him, who said: Al-Sadiq, may His might be glorified, said: "Pious dissimulation (taqiyya) has been mandatory for the believers since Cain killed Abel."

(89) Muhammad ibn Musa narrated from Mahran from Ibn Sinan, peace be upon them, from al-Mufaddal ibn Umar, peace be upon us, that he said: "Religion is a rope between the servant and his Creator. Whoever holds fast to it from the direction of its rope is guided, and whoever seeks it from other than its direction goes astray."

(90) From Muhammad ibn Musa al-Karkhi from Abu Samina from Ibn Sinan, peace be upon him, from our Master al-Sadiq, may His might be glorified, that he said: "Our matter, the People of the House, is a hidden secret, veiled with pearls. Whoever discloses it has violated the secret of Allah upon us." And it is narrated: "...has violated the veil of Allah."

(91) From Abd Allah ibn al-Ula from Idris from Zayd ibn Talha from Yunus ibn Zabyan, peace be upon him, from the Master al-Alim, may His might be glorified, that he said: "The manifestation of Allah to His servants is a deeply hidden secret. What you have come to know is concealed from all others beside you. So remain upon our way and our path. If Allah the Exalted had intended its violation (disclosure), He would not have veiled it, and no one would have denied it; but it is so that He may test some of you by means of others."

(92) Hamza ibn al-Rabi' narrated from our master Abu Shu'ayb from Umar ibn al-Furat, peace be upon them both, who said: Our Master al-Rida, may His might be glorified, said: "Allah has so thoroughly hidden this matter that it was thought He did not wish to manifest it; and He has so manifested it that it was thought He did not wish to hide it."
