(655) From Jabir ibn Abd Allah al-Ansari, who said: I met our Master Amir Almuminin—exalted be his glory—while He was heading toward the Kharijites. He was met by Umar ibn Jurmuz al-Dehqan, who said to Him: "Do not meet the enemy on this day of yours, O Amir Almuminin, for the sun has squared with the tail of the Dragon." Our Master—exalted be his glory—said to him: "May your mother be bereaved of you! I am the one who qualified the sun and originated the moon; by My power the stars travel, and by My will the ships run in the sea. I possessed the kings by My power and settled them by My majesty; their hearts and their forelocks are in My hand. By My might and majesty, I shall surely take vengeance today upon My enemies except for four, and none of My companions shall be killed except for four. Had it not been for what I prepared for them of My nobility, nothing of that would have reached them. I am God, there is no deity except Me, so worship Me; this is a straight path."

Praise be to God for all that we have presented in this epistle of ours. We have entrusted it to God, the High, the Most High alone, and His Name and His Gate after Him; and to him whose favor encompassed me, and by whose hand the blessing of God flowed, my master and true father, the Sheikh Abu al-Fath Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Baghdadi—may God be pleased with him—and for those he met among the sheikhs and all the brothers who loved him and possessed this religion and belief. May God perfect their aid, be pleased with them, and connect what is between us by His grace and favor, and join us with those who follow in the world of purity and the people of loyalty; indeed, He is the Hearing, the Answering of supplication, the Doer of what He wills.
