By his chain of transmission, he said: I asked Sheikh Abu al-Qasim al-Nu'mani, may Allah have mercy on him, regarding the word of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: {Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to their owners} (Al-Nisa: 58). He said: My hearing regarding this involves three aspects:
The first: The trust is that you do not name Amir Almuminin to any person except to the [true] Eye (al-Ayn), Exalted is He.
The second aspect: If you see a seeker of Gnosis and you know he is worthy of it and deserves it, do not withhold it from him; deliver his request to him, for you shall gain by his deliverance and remain safe through his acceptance.
The third: If a man narrates a report to you, do not narrate it from another, for then you would have rendered the trust to those not its people and thus betrayed it. Whoever betrays a loyalist of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has betrayed Allah and sinned.
(75) Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Sa'id ibn Hayyaj, may Allah be pleased with him, told me: Abu Sa'id Maymun ibn al-Qasim al-Tabarani told me: I asked the trustworthy Sheikh Abu al-Husayn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jali, may Allah brighten his face, regarding the saying of our Master al-Sadiq, may His might be glorified: "Our Shia are not born of harlots, neither in the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah) nor in Islam?"
He answered: The outward meaning of this report suffices without its inward, in that the Shia of the Progeny of Muhammad are not born of harlots nor are they children of fornication in ignorance or Islam, as an honor to them and to negate immorality from them. Its inward meaning is: the believer does not hear this knowledge except through a sound spiritual fatherhood and an eloquent discourse, not from "fornication" (unauthorized taking) nor from a progenitor who has no [spiritual] fatherhood or sound lineage.
