Meaning: the manifestation of the Name and his inwardness are from the Meaning—exalted be his glory; He manifests him when He wills and conceals him when He wills. Hamza the Ishaqite Sufi then said: "News is not like witnessing."

Then he recited:

Take what you see and leave that which you heard of; in the rising of the Sun is that which suffices you from Saturn.

(649) I then said to him: My sheikhs—may God be pleased with them—related what I heard from them and what I related via them by their chains to al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswod al-Kindi—peace be upon him—who said: "I was standing before my Master Amir Almuminin—exalted be his glory—when a thought agitated within my soul: how are the Essential Manifestations? Having known what was in my soul, He said to me: 'O Miqdad, do you recognize your Master Abel?' I said: 'Yes, O my Master, if You make me recognize Him.' My Master—exalted be his glory—moved, and suddenly He was Abel. Then He said to me: 'Do you recognize your Master Seth?' I said: 'Yes, if You make me recognize him.' He moved, and suddenly He was Seth. He continued form by form through the Seven Essential [Manifestations] until He completed them, and suddenly He was our Master the Prince of Bees—Majestic is His power. I said: 'O my Master, appear as You will and show Yourself as You will, for You are He.' He said to me: 'O Miqdad, these are My houses; their origin is the Anza'ite [essence] and I am the Anza' Batin.'" al-Miqdad said: "By God, I would move, and by my movement I would see my Master Amir Almuminin—Exalted be His majesty—form by form."

And His speech upon the pulpit, He being the worshipped God, the Anza' Batin—exalted are His favors—Haydara [The Lion] who is the Life of the Abode, the Living of the Abode, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer. He is Abu Turab [Father of Dust], and the entire world is from the dust; He is their Father, their God, their Master, their Creator, and their Provider; the Giver of Life, the Bringer of Death, the Living—there is no deity except Him. Toward Him His Supreme Name, the Lord Mim—exalted be his glory—pointed by his saying:
