I encountered Abu al-Hasan Muhammad ibn Abd al-Muttalib ibn Muslih al-Kafarsusi the scribe, and I encountered Abu Salih al-Dailami who composed the book The Guidance of the One Seeking Direction.
He recited to me by Lord al-Himyari—peace be upon him:
The wife of Noah in the Book is she at whom the dogs of al-Haw'ab barked at dawn.
And the wife of Lot is her counterpart, nay her very self, I mean the progeny of the daughter of the Jibt, the Shayşab.
And the wife of Pharaoh of whom the Guidance spoke in a rank through the likeness of the Mother of Zaynab.
Had you known, you would not have brought in ignorance what the Sun of Abraham is after the Star.
Or had you known what the Prophet Muhammad is and the Pure ones, and his peer, and the son of the Prophet—
You would have disavowed him who said in his praise before the Testimony: "Abiding, not to be struck."
I encountered among the Ishaqiyya those whom I cannot count for their multitude; and all those whom I encountered and related from among the men [did so] by their chains from the Masters—exalted be their glory. I have only omitted the chains of narration so that the explanation does not become too long.
I encountered the most noble of the Ishaqiyya and the most intelligent among them, Hamza al-Sufi. A debate took place between us as follows: He said to me: "It has been said to me that you interpret the Quran?" I said to him: "And who is the Quran in your view?" He said: "The Mim."
