Umar said: I departed from the presence of my Master. When it was evening, a knocker knocked on my door; I went down and opened for him, and suddenly it was one of my brothers holding the [object of my] need with him, without me having asked. When morning came, I entered upon our Master Musa—exalted be his glory—and He said to me: "O Umar, has your need come to you?" I said: "Yes, O my Master." He said to me: "Did you not know that God has made for His Saints an exit from that which they hate, and provision from where they do not expect?"

(640) From our Master al-Rida Ali ibn Musa—exalted be his glory—that he said: "Indeed God has vessels among His creation. The most beloved of them to Him are the gentlest, the purest, and the firmest. They are not gold or silver, but men; the gentlest of them toward their brothers, the firmest of them in their religion, and the purest of them from sins."

The Walaya (The Guardianship/Divine Authority)

(641) By his chain — may God be pleased with him — raising it to our Lord Rashid al-Hajari — to whom belongs submission — that he said: I heard our Master Amir Almuminin — exalted be his glory — say: "He who does not believe in me has not believed in God, and he who does not affirm my Walaya has not affirmed the Prophethood of Muhammad. Indeed, Solomon hesitated regarding my Walaya when it was presented to him, so God stripped him of his kingdom and his prophecy for forty days until he affirmed my Walaya, at which point God returned his kingdom and prophecy to him. Indeed, Jonah was imprisoned by God in the belly of the whale for forty days until he affirmed my Walaya, and He released him then. Indeed, David was tested by God when a doubt regarding my Walaya occurred in his heart, until he returned and repented. Indeed, Job was tested by God for years and He tried him with a great trial regarding my Walaya until He found him patient.
