He [Abu Shu’ayb] sat and then said: "O Ishaq, the prostration is to the Compassionate from the High and Lower worlds, but the worship is for the Meaning. Thus He said: {Prostrate to the Compassionate}, and the Majestic said: {And they were not commanded except to worship God, being sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion}1. All these verses point toward a Witnessed Existence through His signs; they are His manifestations to the world, as the world, according to what wisdom necessitates: that a non-existent thing is not worshipped, one who is not recognized is unknown, and one who is not witnessed is lost. His manifestations are His existence, His existence is His witnessing, His witnessing is His Oneness, His Oneness is the negation of attributes from Him, the negation of attributes from Him is His Being, and His Being is His distinction from His creation—that He is Lord and all else is servant."
Then Abu Shu’ayb said to our Master al-Hasan: "O my Master, will You not ride today?" The Master said: "Yes." Abu Shu’ayb rose and the group rose with him. Muhammad ibn Ismail said: Fadaweih al-Kurdi took me by the hand and we followed Ishaq's trail. Abu Abbad said to him: "O Abu Ya’qub, you promised us yesterday that you would cut Abu Shu’ayb off; by God, he has incapacitated you today and cut you off."
Muhammad ibn Ismail said: When the next day came, I went to the house of our Master—exalted be his glory—at dawn. I entered while the assembly was well-established. I offered peace, and my Master returned it and commanded me to sit beside Fadaweih al-Kurdi. I sat, then He turned to Fadaweih, pointed to our Lord Abu Shu’ayb, and said: "The Compassionate: ask regarding Him one who is informed."
