Sudayr said: "O my Master, if I engage in intercourse (wata’tu), do I not wash?" He replied: "Indeed, the ritual bath is mandatory upon you, an obligatory duty resulting from the act." I said: "O my Master, You have made me recognize the inward of Janaba and Ghusl just now, so how is this?" He said: "O Sudayr, is not that which you have 'trodden' (wata’tahu) a metamorphosed being (maskh)?" I said: "Yes." He said: "So if your body and skin adhere to its body and skin, do you not wash?" I said: "Indeed, You have relieved me, O my Master."

He said: "Beware of entering the 'pool' (al-nuq'a) which is in the public bath, for the Nasibi [adversary] enters it, and he is more stupid than a dog or a pig. If you must, do not dip your head in it. And beware of the bath-scraping stone (shuqfa), for it has wiped the skins of monkeys and pigs—the adversaries to us, the People of the House. Conceal your private parts in the bath, for God the Almighty has cursed the gazer and the one gazed upon." I said: "Hearing and obeying."

(621) My sheikh Abu al-Fath Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Baghdadi — may God be pleased with him — narrated to me by his chain to Lord al-Baqir — exalted be his glory — that he said one day to some of his youths: "Go to the bath and prepare what we require." The youth went to what his Master commanded him, then returned and informed Him. The Master came to the bath, and when He entered, He looked at a folk who were naked without waist-wrappers (ma’azir); so He closed His eyes and felt along the wall. A man said to Him: "O son of the daughter of the Messenger of God, when did this [blindness] afflict You?" Our Master said to him: "On the day God tore away your concealment (satrak)."
