As for the personages of the seven days: [Sunday is the Mim; Monday is the Sin [Salman]; Tuesday is al-Miqdad; Wednesday is Abu Dharr; Thursday is Abd Allah ibn Rawaha; Friday is Uthman ibn Maz'un; and Saturday is Qanbar].
It was also related: [Sunday is the Mim; Monday is Fatir; Tuesday is al-Hasan; Wednesday is al-Husayn; Thursday is al-Muhsin; Friday is the Qaim; and Saturday is the Sin]. The Day of Fitr is the Mim, as is the Day of Sacrifice.
It is also due to his saying: "The day of your fast is the day of your sacrifice." Our saying regarding al-Miqdad: that the "shreds" (qidad) of the creatures were cut from him—is it possible that a luminous being has a fleshly earthly being cut from him? Rather, the science of the world was cut from him, while the Creator is the Name, as the Almighty said: {And God created you and that which you do}1.
(619) I asked him regarding the "tall, lanky one who does not find nobility"? He replied: "My hearing regarding this from the Master — exalted be his glory — is that he is the one who 'exalts' himself over his brothers. The 'short, squat one' is he who 'shortens' himself before his brothers and falls short in fulfilling their needs. The 'right-handed unarmed one' who does not find nobility is he who speaks of the Mim but does not speak of the Ain. The 'gambler' who does not find nobility is he who gambles with the science of Oneness in exchange for the science of the Outward, thus substituting this for that."
Ritual Bath (Ghusl) and Major Impurity (Janaba)
(620) By his chain from Sudayr ibn Hannan al-Sayrafi, who said: I asked Abu Abd Allah Ja’far al-Sadiq — exalted be his glory — regarding the ritual bath and major impurity? Our Lord said: "O Sudayr, what is the origin of major impurity (janaba)?" I said: "Let my Master say." He said: "Janaba: it is when a matter of science agitates within your soul for which you know no answer nor exit; you are thus 'avoiding' (mujanib) its recognition. If you meet a Connaissant who answers that matter for you, that is the ritual bath (al-ghusl)."
