He drew near, and he [Abd al-Muttalib] said: 'This is that with which I have inhabited the hearts of those who supported me, and with which I have connected the hearts of your brothers until they became one. Indeed, a denier finds no pleasure in it, and a believer never denies it.'"

(598) By his chain from al-Sadiq — exalted be his glory — that he said: "Wine is a friend to the souls of believers and an enemy to the souls of disbelievers." A man among those present said to Him: "O my lord, we see a believing man drink it and lapses occur from him?" My Lord replied: "You are not among those who recognize the believers; it only increases the believers' longing for God, while it hardens the hearts of the disbelievers and makes them forget the remembrance of God."

(599) From Muhammad ibn Sinan — peace be upon him — who said: My Master al-Sadiq — exalted be his glory — said: "Wine is Abd al-Nur [the Servant of Light]; it obeys every believing soul and disobeys every disbelieving soul."

(600) From Muhammad ibn Sinan — peace be upon him: I asked my Master al-Sadiq — exalted be his glory — regarding the words of God the Almighty: {Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment of God which He has produced for His servants and the good things of provision?" Say, "They are for those who believe during the worldly life, exclusively for them on the Day of Resurrection." Thus do We detail the verses for a people who know}1. He said: "Whenever the believer is established upon the Oneness of God and His recognition, God makes permissible for him everything among the affairs of the world and the Hereafter."
