(575) From Him—exalted be his glory—that He said: "God shall say to the elite on the Day of Resurrection: 'Here is My Face, so look upon it; and here are My gardens, so enjoy yourselves.'" Zurayq al-Khawwas—may God have mercy on him—narrated to me: My Master the Sheikh Abu Abd Allah—may God sanctify his soul—said to me: "We shall see Him in the Hereafter just as we saw Him in the world, as an Anza' Batin [The Bald one of Vast Knowledge]."
Another aspect is the words of the Almighty: {And He will not look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and for them is a painful punishment}1. This refers to the Day of Disclosure. God looks at everything; the meaning is: He will not have mercy on them, they being the disobedient. {Indeed, those who have believed then disbelieved, then believed, then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelief—never will God forgive them, nor will He guide them to a way}2. They deserved the punishment for what their hands earned, and God is not ever unjust to [His] servants.
Another aspect is the looking of waiting (nadharu indhar), due to the words of the Mighty and Sublime: {"But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return"}3. God is not absent such that He returns; this is a looking of waiting to establish the proof against them through the messengers and the evidences He manifested among them, as He said: {It is He who expelled those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would defend them against God; but God came upon them from where they had not expected, and He cast terror into their hearts [so] they destroyed their houses by their [own] hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O those of vision}4.
