(552) The saying of al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory—: "And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will thrust him into an arduous punishment; he said: 'Whoever turns away from the Walaya of the Prince of Bees.'"
(553) By his chain from Muhammad ibn Sinan, from al-Mufaddal ibn Umar, who said: al-Sadiq—exalted be his glory—said regarding the words of the Almighty: {There is not upon those who believe and do righteous deeds any blame for what they have eaten [before] if they fear [God] and believe and do righteous deeds, then fear and believe, then fear and do good. And God loves the doers of good}1. He—exalted be his glory—said: "The believer is bound by three types of Dissimulation (taqiyyat) in his religion: a Dissimulation from this inverted creation, a Dissimulation from the Muqazmana [Shortcomers], and a Dissimulation from those who liken themselves to the People of Truth. If he acts upon that, God makes permissible for him all that is on land and sea, what the heaven shades, and what the earth carries." The narrator said: I asked Him: "O my Master, what then is permissible for the believer?" He replied: "Do not say that, but rather say: 'What then is forbidden to the believer?'" I asked: "What is forbidden to him?" He replied: "Nothing is forbidden to him except that which he would use to overcome (kabara)2 another believer."
He related—may God be pleased with him—regarding the interpretation of the words of the Mighty and Sublime: {And the one who says to his parents, "Uff to you both! Do you promise me that I will be brought forth [from the earth] when generations before me have already passed?" while they both call to God for help [and say], "Woe to you! Believe! Indeed, the promise of God is truth." But he says, "This is not but legends of the former peoples"}3. He said: Muhammad ibn Ismail said: "The two parents are Musa and Ali ibn Musa; they are his parents in science, and they are the Ain and the Mim."
