He narrated to me—may God be pleased with him—regarding the words of the Almighty: {So I swear by what you see ❁ And what you do not see}1. He said: I asked the Qadi Abu al-Abbas Ahmad ibn Yusuf—may God have mercy on him—regarding that. He said: This is the speech of the Name—exalted be his glory—and his oath, addressing the People of the Ranks. "I swear by what you see and what you do not see," because the Name sees the Meaning through that which the Gate does not see, because he [the Gate] is below him in rank, and he [the Name] is his producer and originator. The Gate sees Him through that which the Great Orphan (al-Miqdad) does not see, because he is below him. al-Miqdad sees Him through that which Abu Dharr does not see; and likewise until the end of the ranks—none of them sees Him except according to his station.

He related—may God be pleased with him—regarding the words of the Almighty: {Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion?}2. He said: This is the speech of the Meaning—majestic is His majesty—regarding His Name and His indication toward him—that He originated the heavens and the earth. The Heavens are Salsal, and the Earth is al-Miqdad, according to the words of the Almighty: {And God has sent down from the sky water and given life thereby to the earth after its death}3. The "Water" is the Science that emerges from the Gate to the Orphans, and they are the "Earth." The "Mountains" are the Nakibs. As for His saying: "Be" (Kun), it is the Name, Lord Mim [Muhammad].

(548) He related from his sheikhs—may God sanctify them—regarding the words of the Almighty: {The Day the Caller calls to a repulsive thing}4. He said: That is the Day of the White Return and the Radiant Cycle. Our Lord Salman shall appear with a Kashitiz [belt/cord] around his waist, the center of his head shaved. In his right hand a Cup containing Abd al-Nur [wine], the Cup having risen a span above his hand. In his left hand a Lute, and in his ears Earrings; he has placed upon one of his ears an Adhriyuna5.
