His saying: {"O my sons, go and find out about Yusuf and his brother and do not despair of the relief of God. Indeed, no one despairs of the relief of God except the disbelieving people"}1. Its meaning: ask about the science of Yusuf so that your rank may increase through science from his brother. Recognize Benjamin and you shall recognize me; for it was related that Benjamin was the Gate, and it was related that he was one of the personages of the Spirit of Jacob—so recognize him in reality and you shall recognize the Meaning.

{And do not despair of the relief of God}2. The "Relief" (al-rawh) here is Science; it was said: the Gate; and others said: it is Abd Allah ibn Rawaha because he is the reliever (murowwih) of the hearts of the believers.

{So when they entered upon him, they said, "O Aziz..."}3. This is a name by which the Meaning was called in the Yusufite manifestation, and He was addressed by it. {"adversity has touched us and our family"}4. It is right for the likes of them to ask their Creator this question, because all things issue toward Him and from Him they are taken.

{"and we have come with merchandise of little worth"}5. The "Merchandise" is Science, and "of little worth" (muzjat) means meager; this is the speech of poverty and need. {"so give us full measure and be charitable to us"}6. It is right for God to be charitable to them, because He is the Creator and they are the created, He is the Lord and they are the lorded.
