{And he who bought him from Egypt said}1—and he is the one who purchased him from Malik ibn Dha'r al-Khuza'i. He was the Aziz, and his name was al-Rayyan ibn Dawfa'; he is among the personages of the Name—exalted be his glory. Egypt is the Mim [Muhammad], as is Mecca; every city praised in the Book of God the Almighty is the Name. His wife was Zulaikha, and she is, in the Hashemite Muhammadan Cycle, Asma bint Umays al-Khath’amiyya.

The saying of the Aziz {to his wife: "Make his stay honorable"}2 means: recognize him, for He is the worshipped Meaning. {Perhaps he will benefit us}3—every "perhaps" (asa) and "maybe" (la'alla) in the Quran is a finalized action from God the Almighty and it is a truth; this is by consensus. {Or we may adopt him as a son}4—there is no disagreement that a son is magnified by his parents; so he intended by that Magnification. Likewise, his saying: {Or we may adopt him as a son}5 means: he shall engender for us the Truth and Recognition.

{And thus We established Yusuf in the land}6. Establishment (al-tamkin) is the manifestation of the Call from the Meaning to the Name, who is the Veil. The "Land" is al-Miqdad. {And that We might teach him of the interpretation of narratives}7—this is the address of the Meaning to the Gate, regarding his knowledge of the status of the Veil from Him. {And God is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know}8. God in this place is Yusuf—exalted be his glory; he is predominant over what he does, never overcome, but most people do not know that He is the Predominant Lord.
