(531) As the Lord Mim—exalted be his glory—said: "The science of the recognition of God is the profitable merchandise."
(532) He—exalted be his glory—also said: "Whoever acts upon what he knows, God shall bequeath to him the science of that which he did not know."
{And they sold him for a reduced price - a few dirhams - and they were, concerning him, of those content with little}. The "Purchaser" of him outwardly was Malik ibn Dha'r1 al-Khuza'i, and he is praised and possesses a rank in the world of sovereignty; thus I related it from my sheikhs—may God be pleased with them—but I do not know in which rank he is to mention it. The "Dirhams" were nineteen dirhams, and they are: [the three Evil Eyes, Talha, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, Sa'd ibn al-As, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, Abu Ubayda Amir ibn al-Jarrah, Khalid ibn al-Walid, Abu Sufyan Sakhr ibn Harb, Mu'awiya, and his son Yezid ibn Mu'awiya, al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba, Qatham ibn al-Abbas, and Abd Allah his brother, Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, Amr ibn al-As, Marwan ibn al-Hakam, and Umar ibn Sa'd].

Even if their names differed and their personages changed, they are they [the same ones]; because the Cycle of the Adversary stands opposite the Cycle of the Veil. He [the Adversary] has personages and ranks just as the Name has ranks and personages. Every rank is opposite a rank, and its personages correspond to these personages. They are the "reduced price" mentioned in the Book of God—may God the Almighty curse them. God blamed them with His words: {reduced}, and informed of them by His words: {and they were, concerning him, of those content with little [renouncers]}2. Thus the blame fell upon these personages because they renounced Yusuf and his recognition. The folk continued to be stubborn, and so on.
