{[Jacob] said, "Indeed, it saddens me that you should take him, and I fear that the wolf would eat him while you are of him unaware"}1. The "Wolf" here is Simon the Deaf, and he is in this Muhammadan Cycle Aqeel ibn Abi Talib; blamed outwardly, praised inwardly. That is: he shall attain his science and succeed by it to your exclusion. "Eating" here is Science, according to the words of the Almighty: {So eat of that upon which the name of God has been mentioned, if you are believers in His verses}2.
And He said: {And do not eat of that upon which the name of God has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience. And indeed, the devils inspire their allies to dispute with you. And if you were to obey them, indeed, you would be polytheists}3. If it were physical food that a person ate and forgot to name God over it, making it haram, a punishment would be mandatory for that just as it is mandatory for using prohibited things. However, the "Food" is the Science.
(530) Regarding this, the Messenger—exalted be his glory—says: "Whoever licks his fingers, the angels pray upon him." These are the five fingers: they are the five personages of the Name—exalted be their glory; to them He pointed in this place. Whoever recognizes them and researches their science connects with the angels and becomes an angel.
The words of the Almighty: {So when they took him away and agreed to put him into the bottom of the well... and We revealed to him, "You will surely inform them of this affair of theirs while they do not perceive"}4. "Revelation" (al-wahy) here is Inspiration, as the Sublime said: {And your Lord revealed to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses and among the trees and [in] that which they construct"}5. The meaning: Yusuf [as Meaning] inspired Jacob [as Name] with what would become of their affair, and then Jacob informed them of it and made them know it.
