For whoever desires the path of God and His way does not tread this path, because the believers are spirits without bodies. The love of gold and silver exists among people according to the nearest then the nearest [to the element]. The closer one is to replication (al-naskh), the more intense is the love; and the further away one is, the more intense is the hatred, due to the distance of his body from it. If one says: "If the soul breaks the stone, in what state would it be?" We say: "In the large piece. If it is broken, it remains in the large piece of what was broken from it until it becomes fine powder and is transferred to another stone." Likewise, iron, gold, and silver enter the fire and you hear its moaning; for other stones and bricks that are roasted, you hear their moaning from the greatness of the punishment that befalls them. Know that, and ask your Master — Majestic is His praise — by His Beautiful Names for pardon, relief, and firmness upon that which He favored you with of His recognition. Supplicate to Him in your night and your day, for He is the aid of whoever recognizes Him, and the savior of whoever declares His Oneness by His success and mercy.
(523) It was related from Isma’il ibn Sadaqa — peace be upon him — who said: our Master al-Rida — exalted be his glory — said: "There is not in the Book of God an eaten thing, nor a drunk thing, nor a worn thing; rather they are only examples cited—meaning each one according to the meaning of its element. That is not for the Book of God alone, but for Paradise, the Fire, and our speech there are examples, personages, ways of ascent, phantoms, and indications toward darknesses and lights."
As for al-Raskh (Establishment): it is everything that is established and does not move, such as stones, iron, and all the molten and solid minerals, according to the words of the Almighty: {Say, "Be you stones or iron ❁ Or a creation of that which is great in your breasts." Then they will say, "Who will return us [after that]?" Say, "He who created you [from that which brought you out of the dust into iron and stones] the first time." Then they will wag their heads at you and say, "When is that? [meaning that it is distant]" Say, "Perhaps it is near" ❁ The Day He calls you and you respond with His praise and you think you remained not but a little.}1.
